Dražen Zanchi is one of those discoveries that cannot fail to inspire a love for Croatia, its people, and for the passion and heart they put into their work.
Doctor of physics at the École Normale Supérieure in Paris Dražen has inherited a beautifully located land in a town of Kaštel Lukšić outside of Split. This is where he planted Dobričić in 2012, the region’s autochthonous red grape.
Years of living in Paris have educated Zanchi in natural wines, so he thought “why not do it in Croatia too?”
Zanchi masters all the process of vinification and directly follow every step of the production including the design of the labels that are slightly different from each other.
In his cellars Dražen produces a single wine from Dobričić Kružine, a distant relative of the more common Mali Plavac grape, which he works with according to the principles of biodynamics and sustainable agriculture.
Dražen Zanchi lets the wine follow its natural development through indigenous yeasts, spontaneous fermentation, and without even the slightest addition of sulphites. The Dobričić Kružine 2017 that we suggest is, in our opinion, an authentic masterpiece.
