Marany, or translated from the Georgian “Garden of Amphoras”, is a new label from the cellar of the Tomac family. We can say it is a tribute to the great Georgian winemaking tradition that at the same time knows how to maintain tradition in a key of modernity
Macerated one month in Qvevri amphorae that Tomislav Tomac import directly from Georgia) and then transferred in an oak barrel where the wine rest for 1 year before being bottled. Unlike many of it’s amphora-aged cousins, however, it is also clean and supremely drinkable.
Tomislav did not want to reveal the exact varieties in the mentioned Cuvee (we could guess Traminer, a touch of Sauvignon… maybe some Pinot) but all grapes are produced exclusively from grapes from the family’s own vineyards and worked with biodynamic techniques since 2018. .
The wine has a beautiful amber color. Beautiful aromas of roses stand out clearly on the nose. It is a vibrant and energetic natural wine, fresh, and elegant, with gentle tannins and pleasant minerality.
One month maceration in Qvevri amphoraes, one year in oak barrel.
Fish soup, Thai spicy food, white meat… trofie al pesto.
