Tatsis Winery

The Tatsis family history has his roots in the disintegration of the ottoman empire and the forced population exchange between south and north of the region after the end of Greece and Turkish war. Tatsis acquired back in 1924 vineyards on the hillock of Libaskerit and Gerakona, an ideal position for viniculture in calcareous non irrigated soil in Goumenissa area (and appellation) a region that speaks for itself about the history of its wines.
The Tatsis brothers forbearer’s property started with 4 hectares that has now grown into 14 with additions that they’ve made since taking over the domaine from their father with their first vintage in 1996. Periklis works the land and oversees the vines with Stergios in charge of making the wine although the lines often blur with a family endeavor. Domaine Tatsis in Goumenissa is among the first in Greece to believe in organic farming and so the Tatsis brothers have begun to implement it since 1998 and in 2002 they started biodynamic cultivation. With minimal intervention in vinification, but with a lot of work in the vineyard, they let the varieties to express themselves naturally and thus they do wonders.
What struck us most were the white wines. Pure, fresh, completely natural and super drinkable, including oranges. Complex and deep they tell a land and a millenary history. Love at first sight
